Real stun Barca at El Clasico

El Clasico"The Classic", also known as El derbiespaƱol, is the name given in football to any match between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. It is contested twice a year in the Spanish La Liga competition, and more often if the clubs meet in other competitions. It is the most followed club football match in the world, watched by hundreds of millions of people around the world.

The rivalry comes about as Madrid and Barcelona are the two largest cities in Spain, and the two clubs are two of the richest, most successful and influential football clubs in the world.

On 21st April Real Madrid defeated defending champions Barcelona 2-1 in El Clasico at Camp Nou to open a seven-point lead at the top of La Liga with just four games left. Barcelona suffered their first defeat in 54 home games and put Madrid on the cusp of breaking the Catalan giants' three-year hold on the Spanish league crown.

Sami Khedira put Realahead after 17 minutes as Barcelona made a hash of trying to clear a corner. However, the hosts restored parity as substitute Alexis Sanchez slotted home a scrappy, close-range effort in the 70th minute. But three minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo world’s most expensive player bagged his 54th goal of the season with a clinical finish to give Real a massive boost in the title race.
